Snake Pit Sim Season: 4/10 Home Sweet Home

After a terrible road-trip through Chicago and San Francisco, the Diamondbacks returned to Chase Field, hoping some home cooking might help them settle in and put together a stronger performance. Missing from the game was the terrible weather the Diamondbacks were forced to endure over the previous seven games. The Diamondbacks went down in order in the first. Then, with two outs in the second inning, Carson Kelly doubled. That was followed by a pair of walks to load the bases. For his part, Leake did not allow the situation to bother him. After making the final out in the second, he went right out and retired the Rockies in order in the third. Starling Marte led off the Diamondbacks half of the third with a line drive to left that went tot he wall. He coasted into second with a stand-up double. This was followed by yet another double by Ketel Marte David Peralta Jersey, this one a hot grounder down that stayed just fair down the third base line. Marte advanced to third on a groundout to the right side by Kole Calhoun, batting in the cleanup spot in the order. Then, Christian Walker took the first pitch he saw in his at-bat and sent it to the opposite field, landing it only a few feet from where Peralta had sent his home run. This put the Diamondbacks up by four and gave Mike Leake all the wiggle room he could ask for.The rest of the game was rather uneventful and went by at a lightning pace. The Rockies finally got on the board in the sixth via a pair of singles by Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado followed by a GIDP by David Dahl. That was the last scoring by either team. In fact, it was the last scoring threat of any kind by either team. Despite pining a four-spot on Jon Gray in the third, the Diamondbacks then went three up and three down in innings four, six, and eight. The Rockies, for their part, managed to at least get a runner to first in each of the innings four through eight Taylor Clarke Jersey, with the lone score coming in the sixth. With Leake at 100 pitches with two out in the seventh inning, Virtual Lovullo turned to Andrew Chafin. Two pitches later, he was out of the inning. He then faced the minimum in the eighth allowing a single to start things off but then getting a routine double play to erase the base runner. Archie Bradley then came on for the ninth inning. It only took Bradley 10 pitches to pitch a perfect inning with two strikeouts to secure the save.Final Score COL 1 - AZ 4Player of the game honors went to Mike Leake for keeping the Rockies off balance for six and two-thirds.
